Leadership - how to create a path for others to follow
I am often asked: “ How is that you have the confidence to stand up and share your thoughts when you know you are going to have a different point of view?” so I thought I would share some thoughts with you as I know it is not always easy to stand up.
Firstly as people we all NEED to feel like we BELONG.
TO BE ACCEPTED.
TO BE PART OF A COMMUNITY.
Did you know that MRI studies show that the same areas of the brain become activated when we experience rejection as when we experience physical pain? That is pretty powerful information to know and understand.
So if we fear that having a different opinion will lead to rejection, we are likely to give up our voice, we stay silent. And in many ways, it makes us become inauthentic.
People see through this, so if you want to be a better leader, watch this video, and see if you can take away a little nugget or two. If you would like to vengeance these skills even further then please reach out. the more people that stand up and show our next generation the path the more success and confidence we will see in those around us.
Remember, having a different point of view is about us being prepared to listen and hear what others have to say. When we can truly listen, we become better communicators, better negotiators and we continue to grow personally and professionally.
Take the step. Lean in and show others the footprint that they can follow
