The importance of language in crisis and during Covid19

When we have experiences such as stress, trauma, or some form of crisis, especially situations where we have no history to draw on to guide us forward, we tend to look outward so we can collect information and make our own decisions on how to react or respond.

We are currently living in moments like this, and the globe is using language that elicits more uncertainty and at times fear through the choice of words such “we are living in uncertain times”, “we are living in challenging times” or “we are living in unprecedented times”

How many of us “Don’t know or understand what we are all experiencing?”

How many of us feel even more stress because that is all that we hear?

The reality is that we all know how we feel. So, my question is who is prepared to have a voice to disrupt the NOISE and create some calm?

When we use language (whether it is heard or thought) that has a negative frame of mind, it impacts us. It changes our psyche and brings about more doubt.

I encourage you to join me in being the disrupter that will bring about change to create some clarity on how we can move forward. We can begin to create a space that leaves not only ourselves, but those around us in a better place.
