When I let go of who I am, I become who I might be
Some years ago I was spending a lot of time in and out of airports and club lounges, being caught up in the material trappings of success, with less inner peace. I was then awakened to a simple way of life that showed me the very existence of joy, freedom, true wealth, and luxury.
I became fascinated with this profound knowledge, so much so that it dawned on me that it was something that I had often thought about but allowed to pass as if it were something that occurred in an alternate universe.
Now I know that, as you read this, I ask you to pause and reflect on what you will choose to do about it as you continue to read on.
Actions only occur when we do it
It was during these years that I began to read more, be more attentive, and be more reflective. I began to reflect on all my learnings and on the education I undertook outside of my professional career and I recognised that it was not by sheer coincidence that I pursued them. It was both my subconscious mind being active and my conscious self being aware of the needs in my surroundings and what my heart and soul were craving.
Despite the action, I was still not sure what it all meant, or what that pull toward certain pathways was all about. My studies however had shown me the profound use of language and the influence words make on a daily basis. This had been my roadmap to a more enlightened path but I still had not recognised that it was a choice, my choice, to listen and to take action despite others around me telling me it was the wrong decision. But I knew then that despite external noise, it was an inner driver that would one day serve me on a greater level. I knew then what others were not conscious of: the power of the mind and the influence it holds when we choose to enable it to create a positive impact.
In pursuit of what might be
With this new fascination, I continued to read more and as I did, I continued to discover the profound impact and importance of the words we use in our daily communications (both with ourselves and with others) on the quality of our lives.
This also enabled me to become aware of my own self-talk which occurs in my head every minute of every hour of every day and I became committed to improving what I would say to myself. To achieve this, I began to use a strategy that was developed in ancient practices, and it started changing my life.
This was the beginning of me valuing the person that I chose to become. In letting go of what was, I was able to focus daily on who I might be, and on who I choose to be. This practice, this ritual, dominates awareness and reshapes the person you are.
If it is freedom, inner peace, and calm you seek, there are phrases that you can use, just as there are some for prosperity, and confidence.
Be the person that awaits you
It is not money that brings about the person you can become, it is something that every single one of us has, our mind. So, when you are ready to be the person you choose to be, begin by pausing, reflecting, and truly understanding what it is you are in pursuit of and then begin to use language, words, and actions that model the person that awaits you.
I often share that “Time x Effort = Capacity” and those who genuinely want that for themselves, will take the measured steps to find the time and make the effort.
We all have the capacity, but first, we must choose who we want to be.
